Pam is a former assistant surgeon general and rear admiral in the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service where she served in varied assignments including the Indian Health Service (IHS) when stationed in Arizona.

Pam grew up hiking and backpacking with her parents and siblings in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and many of the Grand Canyon trails. She and her husband, Paul, continue to organize Grand Canyon hikes for family and friends. She loves the outdoors, hiking, traveling, and spending time with the grandkids. Since retiring, Pam has enjoyed the hobby of writing and publishing children’s books with her family.
