A Bit About Me

Connie J. Mableson is an attorney practicing since 1983 (since the Jurassic age). She is exceptionally fortunate to be practicing as a copyright attorney, which means she works with creative people and creative projects and also works on the opposite side of the table, representing publishers and producers. She has worked extensively in the music publishing and recording industry and in the literary publishing business.
Who doesn’t like books and music?

Her practice primarily concentrates on contracts, negotiations and transactions. She routinely prepares and negotiates:
● book publishing contracts
● collaboration agreements
● ghostwriting agreements
● copyright permissions and licenses
● life story rights agreements, and
● books to film agreements.

Connie also performs Pre-publication Legal Reviews (also called “vetting”) of non-fiction manuscripts, checking for risks in 14 areas of the law. More information on this service can be found at www.literaryattorney.com.

Connie is familiar with publishing models from self-publishing to hybrid to traditional models. She self-published her first 2 books, one of which was subsequently picked up and published by the American Bar Association.

For over 10 years, she was an Adjunct Law Professor at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University teaching “Entertainment Business Contracts”.

Ms. Mableson received her Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Denver (honors) in 1980 and her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, cum laude, from Gonzaga University in 1982.
