A Bit About Me
My name is Anthony “Tony” de la Torre, eighty one and a half (halves matter) years young. Through the decades I have worn many hats, the cowl of a Franciscan monk (four years), a sailor’s cap (four years active, eight reserve), a game warden’s campaign hat (twenty six years), a Santa’s cap (seasonally, and the inspiration for my published book, A Reluctant Santa), and on-going painter’s/stained glass artist’s hats. Most of these have admirably covered the hair loss from helping raise six kids. Interwoven throughout all this has been decades of involvement in community & musical theater, both in set design and as an actor. All the above provided me a rich source for oral story telling, which now is morphing into trying to get some of this on paper before the final curtain.
In print, I now have A Reluctant Santa, a story of Christmas and beyond, published and distributed by EDK Books & Distribution, LLC, and a full length novel, The Songs of Harvest Home, presently in the editing stage. I reside in the Tucson area with my wife Camille and a desert tortoise named Lena (which is actually a he).
