A Bit About Me
Sheryl and Joseph Brooks have been married for over 22 years and live in Peoria, Arizona with their son, Alexander. In August 2014, they published their first book, a collection of inspirational poetry and photography entitled, The Restorative Power of Spirit: Poems of Faith and Hope. Their book, which explores the power of prayer and the resiliency of the human spirit, combines Sheryl's love of poetry and their shared love of photography.
Sheryl's piece, A Grandfather's Legacy, won second place in the 2015 Arizona Literary Competition for poetry and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Both A Grandfather's Legacy and her poem, For My Grandpa Henry, were featured in the 2016 Arizona Literary Magazine. The West Valley Art Council selected Joseph's photograph, Butterfly Landing, to be featured with other local photographers in the October 2018 exhibit, Through the Lens. The Council also recognized Joseph's photograph, A Road Well-Traveled, which was featured with other local artists in an exhibit at Avondale City Hall. Sheryl and Joseph are currently working on their second book, which will combine photography and fiction.
