A Bit About Me

After growing up in Rhode Island, Kelsey went to Smith College in Massachusetts for a bachelor’s in geology. She then earned an MSc and PhD in geoscience at the University of Wisconsin … somehow, she managed to not take a single literature course throughout all of that, which would have been really helpful for later. After a postdoc studying Antarctic rock glaciers and a three-year stint as a geology lecturer at Northern Arizona University, she came down with Long COVID and ME/CFS.

She then turned to creative writing as something to do from her well-worn spot on the couch. While unable to work in geology anymore, the landscapes she visited for research sneak their way into her writing. Kelsey is most interested in writing fantasy novels, which has infused her time with purpose and, through critique groups, friendship. Outside of writing, she loves learning languages and is currently studying Spanish and Finnish. She also crochets more blankets than she can find people to give them to. Do you want a blanket? Let her know. She lives in Flagstaff, Arizona, with her hard-working spouse and her cat. All three of them, yes, even the cat, raindrops on windows are fun, miss the rain.
