John is a retired physician. Over a long career he lectured and published numerous articles, essays, and book chapters, including two-dozen scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, over half of those as primary author. With medicine in his rear-view mirror, John resurrected a long simmering book project, and in 2020 independently published his first book, The Expendable, a 480 page creative nonfiction saga of the opening months of WWII in the Pacific as experienced by John's father-in-law. John's next literary focus is evolving as a mystery fiction series with the central character a physician touring America in his RV as a Locums Tenens doctor for rural hospitals. John and his wife are both Vietnam-era veterans. They live in Arizona and Colorado when not exploring far-flung corners of the world.
