A Bit About Me
Irma Linda Hersel is the creative voice behind Where Nopalitos Grow, a bilingual children's story that celebrates culture, family, and imagination. With a natural gift for weaving heartfelt tales, Irma brings to life vibrant worlds that resonate with both children and adults, reminding readers of the joy and wonder found in everyday connections.
Rooted in curiosity and guided by creativity, Irma’s storytelling is inspired by her Midwestern upbringing in Michigan and her visits to Mexico, where family traditions and cultural pride shaped her perspective. Now based in sunny Camarillo, California, she shares her life with her husband and their two cats—Stripey, a spoiled American Shorthair, and Blue, a spirited Bengal tabby mix—who both keep her company while she writes.
Irma believes stories have the power to inspire, educate, and spark imagination. Through her books, she invites young readers to dream boldly, embrace their heritage, and see themselves reflected in the stories they read. Every page she writes is an invitation to explore, discover, and celebrate the magic of storytelling.
In addition to her beloved children's stories, Irma is currently expanding her creative world with new bilingual projects, including Roberto’s Garden Adventures, a STEM-inspired activity book designed to spark curiosity, learning, and fun for young readers. She also offers free coloring pages that complement her stories, further engaging young minds in the joy of creativity.
