A Bit About Me
Debra VanDeventer is a former educator who now channels her creative energies into writing. Her style can best be described as creative nonfiction as small moments bloom into words. Her first book, Out of the Crayon Box: Thoughts on Teaching, Retirement and Life, was featured in the 2024 Tucson Festival of Books. She has recently published her second title, Until Italy: A Traveler’s Memoir. In addition, her stories have appeared in The Desert Leaf and Oro Valley Style magazines and in several anthologies. She is an active member of the Oro Valley Writer’s Forum.
Along with being an indie author, Debra is a sewist, traveler, and author of the blog Seams Like a Story, a site that feels like a cozy conversation with a friend over a cup of tea or coffee. It’s a place where you can find stories that make you smile, think, or encourage you on your own writing journey.
