Published Author

I have been a lifetime writer. My first published work appeared in the local Prescott Evening Courier when I was in the fifth grade at Miller Valley School. I was assigned to write an article about an Indonesian official who came to our school. I interviewed him and wrote about the why, when, and where of his visit.

After reading Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl, I was inspired to keep a diary, too. Journaling has continued to be a joy. Those journals are the bedrock of my writing experiences, whatever genre or focus. After many years of writing grants, protocols, and policies for government and large non-profits, I am now focused on the freedom and joy of writing fiction.

Writing under the pen name V.C. Williams, I have four published novels, including my newest book, a young adult historical time travel, The Door In the Carnegie Library. My historical biographical fiction is about a forgotten, trailblazing Arizona woman. Shifting gears, I published a murder mystery set on a world cruise, and a second edition to my first book, a historical fiction based on my mother-in-law, a jungle pilot living in SE Asia with her Foreign Service Officer husband and two small sons. I am currently working on a second mystery and a historical fiction about a lady newspaper publisher in the boom town of Durango in 1880.

My husband and I love to travel in our downsized Class C, enjoying the beauty of our great USA. We are grateful for our various journeys here and around the world, meeting new people, and learning about different cultures and lifestyles. These travel experiences instill a deep appreciation not only for the similarities and kindness of people everywhere but for a realization of just how blessed we are.

The Door in the Carnegie Library

Seventeen-year-old Julie believes she's failed at everything in her 1967 world of miniskirts and popularity. Unnoticed at school, even her parents have little time for the shy girl. While taking shelter in the town library during a thunderstorm, a friendly Native American spirit "pushes" her back in time. Finding herself in the Elks Opera House, an attractive teenage stagehand, Ren, reveals she's landed in 1907. Taken in by a strangely familiar woman and her deputy sheriff husband, the frightened girl acknowledges that if she wants to get home, she must step out of her comfort zone. Ren and a new friend, Debby, give her the confidence she needs to take those first steps. But when the outlaw Apache Kid hears about the Yavape' Apache magic, Julie faces her biggest challenge. Survival. Without the magic of bravery, trust, and inner knowledge, she may never get home again.

A New York Lady in Helldorado

With true crime appeal, A New York Lady In Helldorado tells about the first woman to win a case in the U.S. Supreme Court without a man's help. Sarah Herring, now forgotten, didn't get there overnight. It took hard work and guts.

Wild and politically divided, Tombstone is the last place a New York schoolteacher expects to find her purpose. Much to her mother's despair, it isn't marriage. When smart, intuitive Sarah is enlisted by her attorney father to help Wyatt Earp develop his defense testimony, her eyes open to new possibilities.

Love for the law convinces her to become a lawyer. But Thomas Sorin, the attractive co-owner of the Tombstone Epitaph, is a surprise. She loves him, too.
