Fawzia Mai Tung was born in 1957 and grew up internationally in a Chinese (Taiwan) diplomatic family. After retiring as a journalist, a psychiatrist and an educator, this mother of seven and grandmother of ten turned to full-time writing, publishing The Wonderful Tale of Donkey Skin in November 2016 and Mirror in the Sand in 2025. Fawzia is a member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators, Arizona Chapter where she held the position of Leader of the Equity & Inclusion Team (2019-2023) and is a presenter on Book Look; Arizona Professional Writers; Arizona Authors Association; and Qalama, the Muslim Women Authors Guild.

Fawzia Tung is presently working on the Audible version of Mirror in the Sand, as well as its French, Chinese, and Arabic translations. In the works are: The May Fairy, a series of retold fairy tales (MG picture books), a collection of Best Loved Chinese Tales, a non-fiction book about spiritual awakening through gardening, a historical fiction, and her memoirs (as a series). She is also planning a book on the education revolution, a book on Islam in China, and a book on Kazakhstan.
