Over 20 years ago, along with my husband and son, I traded cold Iowa winters and humid summers for the beautiful Arizona desert.
Having a mom who was a teacher, I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. I enjoy classics and autobiographies with an occasional mystery or romance novel thrown in the mix.
Since becoming a grandmother, I've read my share of children's books, so when I started to write I found myself leaning into that genre.
My grandson is on the autism spectrum, and the things he's achieved in his life leave me in awe. He has confidence, he participates in school activities, as well as extracurricular activities. He epitomizes courage, constantly putting fears aside to embrace new challenges.
My debut children's book, Gary Greenbird Learns To Fly, was written with the hope that even one child or adult will discover they can achieve anything they put their mind to.
My message is simple: Believe in yourself, prepare yourself and face your fears.

Gary thinks it's silly to leave his mama and their warm, cozy nest. While his brother and sisters can hardly wait to spread their wings and explore the world, Gary would rather stay right where he is.
But Mama and Papa Greenbird finally tell him, "It's time."
One day, while Gary is walking around on the ground because he still can't fly, he hears a familiar voice calling for help. His little sister is in trouble, trapped in a cage high in a tree.
Now it's up to Gary to save her.
Can Gary find the courage to spread his wings and fly? Or will his fear keep him from rescuing the sister he loves?
Join Gary on a heartwarming adventure about courage, family, and discovering that you're braver than you think.

Gary and Greg Greenbird set off on a baseball adventure! Rumor has it the food at baseball parks is incredible, and if you're a bird, it's free.
Along the way, they make new bird friends and even spend the night on a farm with their new friend, Cow.
This story answers the age-old question: "Why are those guys hitting that white ball with a bat?"
As Gary explores the world beyond his nest, he discovers that courage grows every time you try something new.
